A Professional Looking Email

When doing my research, looking at other personal training websites, there was one thing that struck me as looking very unprofessional. This was the use of personal emails in the contact details, for example @yahoo.com, @hotmail.com, etc. These people had great looking websites, but their businesses lacked credibility with the use of personal emails.

What would look a lot more professional, is to have an email address linked to your domain name, ie. @fitnessprofessional.com.

These are so easy to set up, and they are free!

Go to Google Apps,

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/index.html

log in with your domain name and set up your professional looking email addresses. You don't even have to have a website, as long as the domain name you use has not already been taken. Once you have set this up, you can have all the mail forwarded to your personal email.

This only takes 5-10minutes to set up but gives your business a lot more credibility!

Most Essential Online Tool: A Website!

The first step to giving your Personal Training business an online presence is creating a website, this is an essential tool to achieve online success. Now this might sound simple, but there are thousands of PTs out there who still do not have a website, and are missing out on many potential clients.

When deciding on your domain name, my tip would be to think about what your target market would searching for, when they are searching in google, yahoo or any other search engine, what keywords would they use.

For example, if you were a Liverpool based trainer, they may well be searching something like:
"personal trainer liverpool"
"personal training liverpool"
"fitness liverpool"
"weight loss liverpool"

So why not chose a domain name using your top keywords, eg. personaltrainingliverpool.com. It may help you to reach more of your target market. Search for your ideal domain name below.

If you already have a website, why not snap up a domain name using your top keywords and link it to your current website.

Your website is an essential tool to put your fitness business top of the searches when people search for trainers in your area.

Welcome to the Personal Training Excellence blog!

Hi,
Throughout this blog I will be providing tips and advice on how to make a success of your personal training business and earn a great income without working long long hours and eventually burning yourself out.
I run a successful mobile personal training business, and just through having a good online presence I have set up some great opportunities, such as;

referral systems from health providers, including Bupa

filmed exercise videos and designed programs for other fitness websites

asked to provide talks for various groups

Provided services to corporate clients, including gym design

Providing nutritional supplements both online and to UK fitness professionals

Now I am no online business guru, but I have learnt many things over the past few years, which have enabled me to maintain a successful business and gain multiple streams of income. This is essential for every personal training business. To rely on just your PT sessions for your income could be very dangerous and is potential business suicide.

A few of my tips may seem very basic to some of you, but through my research, a lot of trainers out there are not using them. We need to work together to raise awareness for personal training, so we are top of every persons list when they want to achieve their heath and fitness goals. We all know personal training is the most effective method to get results.

Look out for the first PT business tip on this blog, would love to hear your comments!
